James Michael Oser

CUYAHOGA FALLS- James Michael Oser, 55, passed away on December 27, 2023.  His struggles with epilepsy and other health conditions are over and he is at peace.  Jim grew up in Barberton where he graduated from high school.  He was active in many sports and fitness activities enjoying baseball, football, weight lifting, karate and Tai Chi, and hockey.  His love of sports transferred to his career in officiating sports.  Jim was passionate about working with the youth in sports and he found a particular love of officiating lacrosse, football, and track.  He even got to spend some time being an official for his nieces’ soccer games.

Later in life, Jim moved to Cuyahoga Falls and enjoyed the activities on Front Street and doing yoga at the Nat.  He became an enthusiast of riding his bike along the trails at Cuyahoga Valley National Park and could be found there every weekend in the spring and summer.

Jim is preceded in death by his mother, Claudia Oser, and his nephew, Vincent Leiter.  He is survived by his father James H. Oser, his sisters Jodi (Ray) Leiter, Jaclyn Oser, his brothers Justin Pantea, Jason (Kathleen) Pantea, his nieces Jillian Leiter, Rebecca Leiter, Kennedy Pantea, and his nephews Joshua Leiter and Bennett Oser, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

There will be a memorial service on January 6, 2024 starting at 11:00 am at Northampton United Methodist Church, 852 W Bath Rd, Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44223.  Friends may call before the service from 10-11 at the church. 

In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation in Jim’s name to the Epilepsy Foundation Ohio or the Cuyahoga Valley National Park Foundation.
