PENINSULA- Janene Claire Pierce (Balk) passed away on October 13, 2024 after succumbing to injuries precipitated by a tragic accident last December. She was predeceased by her beloved daughter Christine Pierce, her husband James Pierce and sister Deanna Dolan (Balk).
Janene was born in Lorain, Ohio on June 30, 1951 to her loving parents William Balk and Gertrude Balk (Burgess). She leaves her uncle Bruce Moore, cousins Gregory Moore, David Moore, James Goodwill, Carol Murray, Brian Goodwill, Denise Stewart, Debbie Balk, Calvin Tucker, David Balk and Thomas Balk, and special companion Ron Calhoun.
Janene was a 1969 graduate of Woodridge High School and attained a degree in Commercial Art from the University of Akron. She married Jim Pierce and was the proprietor of the renowned Grabham’s Candies. Janene was a pillar of the Girl Scout community and a devoted member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church. She was a passionate adventurer who loved travel, concerts, and family.
Visitation is 5-7pm on Wednesday, October 23 at Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St. Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221. St. Luke’s Lutheran Church will celebrate her life on Thursday at 10am, October 24 at 2121 6th Street, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio 44221 followed by burial at Northlawn Memorial Gardens. Her family requests any donations in her memory be made to St. Luke’s Lutheran Church.
