Janice Smith

Janice Lee Smith, 50, passed away February 21, 2011. Janice was born in Akron and lived in the area all of her life. She graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School and Kent State University before working as an I T accountant for the university. She loved family reunions, hiking the Metro Parks with her golden retriever, Sailor, and was an active member of Bethany United Church of Christ. Her smile lit up the room and she never met a stranger.

Preceded in death by her mother, Donna Cassidy and twin children, Michael and Jennifer Short; she is survived by her husband, Glenn; children, Lindsay K Short and Donald Smith of Akron, Elizabeth (Mark) Hogue of Adamsville, OH; father, Clyde (Nancy) Hovatter of Cuyahoga Falls; sisters, Debbie (John) Larkins, Sheri (Bonnie) Hovatter, and Kelly Hanna; brothers, Terry Hovatter and Tim (Erma) Finnerty all of Cuyahoga Falls; and nieces and nephews all of whom miss her deeply.

Friends may call from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM Thursday, February 24 in the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, February 25 in the Bethany United Church of Christ, 1235 Broad Blvd., Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44223. Rev. Stephen Gehlert will be officiating.
