Jennie F. Cornelius

Jennie F. Cornelius, longtime resident of Cuyahoga Falls, passed away on October 28, 2023, at the age of 85. Jennie was born on March 29, 1938, in Tampa, Florida, the daughter of the late J. Rex and Lera (Finley) Farrior. After Plant High School, Jennie went on to attend college at Randolph-Macon in Virginia, The University of Tampa, and Florida State University where she received her undergraduate degree in social work.  She later received her master’s degree in education from Kent State University.  Jennie was active in various organizations throughout her life, including Tri Delta Sorority, the Junior League of Akron, and Mensa.  She devoted a good portion of her life to serving the underprivileged and was a volunteer with the Red Cross for over two decades.  She enjoyed her career as a Social Worker, retiring from Summit County after decades of service.  Jennie had a passion for the arts and enjoyed many theatrical performances and operas over the years.

In addition to her parents, Jennie was preceded in death by her siblings, J. Rex Farrior, Jr., and Anne Preston.

She will be dearly missed by her children, Jay (Joann) Cornelius of Akron, and Dr. Janine Cornelius of Treasure Island, FL, and grandchildren, Emily Faith Cornelius, Tara Marie Cornelius, and Rigel Farrior Cornelius.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 6, 2023, at 3pm in the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221. Guests are welcome to visit with the family after the service until 4:30pm.  For friends and family in Tampa, a celebration of Jennie's life will be held at 1pm on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at Palma Ceia Golf and Country Club, 1601 South MacDill Ave., Tampa, FL 33629.

Memorial donations, if desired, may be made in Jennie’s memory to the American Red Cross.
