CUYAHOGA FALLS - Jerry Goodwin, 73, went to be with the Lord February 16th, 2014 at his home in Cuyahoga Falls.
He was born in Akron and lived all of his life in Munroe and Cuyahoga Falls. After high school he enlisted and served in the U.S. Army. Over the course of his life he worked for local municipalities and retired in 1987 from the City of Stow street department. Known there by his nickname "Maytag" because he loved to "agitate" and make people laugh. After an early retirement he spent most of his free time visiting friends, family and anyone who needed a warm smile and a helping hand. He was an avid golfer, bowler, and enjoyed boating and fishing on the Cuyahoga River.
Preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and Elmer Goodwin; brothers, James, Jay, Jack Bob and Floyd and sister, Betty Scott. He is survived by his wife of 36 years Linda; children, Jeffrey (Denise) Goodwin of Springfield Twp., Kimberly McTague of Tallmadge and Barb (Dean) O'Malley of Cuyahoga Falls; grandchildren, Bryan, Tierney, Blake, Tailor, John and Nathan; brother John Goodwin; sister Ruth Butler; sister-in-law Karen Goodwin and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 20 in the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St, Cuyahoga Falls where a Funeral Service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday February 21, Dr. Richard A Hasler and Pastor David Brown officiating. Interment in Oakwood Cemetery with Military Honors by American Legion Charles Faust Post 281. Services entrusted to Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 330-928-2147.
