CUYAHOGA FALLS - Joan Catherine Roberts (Bauer), 80, passed away January 22, 2024. She was born February 25, 1943 in Akron to Elmer and Catherine (Butler). She was a beloved daughter, sister, niece, cousin, wife, mother, grandmother, friend, colleague & dog mom.
She attended St. Joseph’s grade school and was a graduate of Hoban Dominican High School in Cleveland. Upon graduation she pursued her passion in cosmetology. Not long thereafter, she married the love of her life, John.
She was member of St. Joseph’s parish in Cuyahoga Falls. She enjoyed: knitting, cooking (her famous mac & cheese), making her signature PB&J’s, music, shopping, and of course spending time with her family/friends and numerous pets.
To those who knew her (and on occasion those who didn’t) she also enjoyed ‘gifting’ you with a smart-aleck remark (or her favorite finger) almost as much.
She is survived by her children: Gerard “Jerry”/”Bear” of Cuyahoga Falls; Michael “Mikey-Pooh”/“Dump Truck 2” (Chad) of Arlington, VA; Mark “Marky-Joe” (Aaron) of Dublin, OH and Bridget “Bridge” / “Sha” (Jairo) of Hilliard, OH. Grandchildren: Hayley of Lakeland, FL and Conor of Hilliard.
Brother Jerry Bauer of Goleta, CA. Nieces: Kathy (John) of Akron and Jeanne (Brent) of Vancouver, WA. Nephews: Ed of Akron; John (Michelle) of Austin, TX; Bill (MaryAnn) of Naperville, IL; Jeff (Mary) of Lorena, TX; Chris (Donita) of Mufreesboro, TN and Josh of Costa Mesa, CA and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Anne of Akron & Rosemary of Richfield; brother Tom of Ft. Myers, FL; husband John of Deltona, FL; niece Elizabeth of Akron and other loved ones.
While there will be no calling hours, relatives & friends may attend Joan’s memorial mass which will be held at 11:00 on Saturday Jan 27th at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church: 1761 2nd St. Cuyahoga Falls.
Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery: 100 E. Waterloo Rd. Akron, followed by a reception back at St. Joseph’s in the lower level (Nolan Hall).
In lieu of other remembrances, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, The Alzheimer’s Association or The National Breast Cancer Foundation.
