JoAnn Shaw

CUYAHOGA FALLS -JoAnn M. Shaw, 74, passed away at her residence May 5, 2010. Mrs. Shaw was born in Akron and had resided in Cuyahoga Falls the past 53 years. She graduated from the St. Thomas Hospital School of Nursing and received her BSN from Ursuline College. She was employed by St. Thomas and Akron City Hospitals for over 43 years. She held numerous positions from floor nurse to supervisor but being head nurse of the emergency room was her favorite. She was an active member of St Joseph's Catholic Church as a member of the Alter and Rosary Society and served as Eucharistic Minister. After retiring, she continued her desire to help other people by volunteering at numerous organizations. A few were at Regina Nursing Home, St. Joseph's Elementary and in pastoral care and as a hospice volunteer at Akron City Hospital.

Preceded in death by her husband, Larry, son Richard Shaw, son-in-law, Mark Braun and brothers and sisters, John Pramuka, Helen (George) Sesock, Al (Jessie) Pramuka and Mary (John) Hranilovich, she is survived by her children, Laurie Braun of S. Euclid, Sue (Jim) Berray of Cuyahoga Falls, Larry (Mimi) Shaw of Madison, Conn, Bill (Cathy) Shaw of Silver Lake, Nancy (Tom) Wilson of Cuyahoga Falls, Jerry (Linda) Shaw of Cuyahoga Falls, Pat (Kelly) Shaw of Hudson, Charlie Shaw of Cuyahoga Falls and Judy (Jim) Edwards of Hudson; daughter-in-law, Jacquie Shaw of Cuyahoga Falls; grandchildren, Nick, Lisa, Nathan, Rose, Jamie, Ryan, Teddy, Alex, Parker, Malone, Kelsey, Sean, Maggie, Hallie, Henry, Mia, Adam, Anna, Zac and Owen; brothers and sister, Frank (Barbara) Pramuka, Irene (Bob) Buehrle and Tom (Julie) Pramuka and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 3:00 to 8:00 pm Monday, May 10 in The Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home 1930 Front St. Cuyahoga Falls. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 am Tuesday, May 11 in St. Josephs Catholic Church. Interment Chestnut Hill Memorial Park.
