John Darago

CUYAHOGA FALLS - John L. Darago, 77, son of Barbara (Schlaker) Darago and Walter Darago (deceased) passed away January 1st, 2010. Born in Akron, Mr. Darago was a lifetime resident of the area. John was a 1950 graduate of St. Vincent High School and attended the University of Notre Dame on a football scholarship, graduating in 1954. He had been a loan officer in the banking industry. He eventually retired from the Richfield Coliseum. John was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, a life member & PER of B.P.O.E. (ELKS) #1923, a past president of the Notre Dame Club of Akron and a former CYO coach at St. Joseph's grade school. He was a loyal and devoted Notre Dame fan. He is survived by his wife Rita of 56 years; sons John J. of Akron, Kevin M., Timothy J. (Carolyn), and Patrick G. (Mary), all of Cuyahoga Falls; grandchildren, Timothy, Katie, Michael, Michelle, Patrick, and Nicholas. Friends may call at the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls, from 4:30 to 7:30 pm on Wednesday, January 6th ELKS service at 7:00. A Funeral Mass will be held 10 am Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cuyahoga Falls. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of other remembrances, the family requests memorials be made to the University of Notre Dame Endowment Fund, P.O. Box 519 Notre Dame, Indiana 46556-9988, or the St. Vincent-St. Mary Endowment Fund, 15 N. Maple St., Akron, OH 44303 in his memory.
