CUYAHOGA FALLS -John E. "Jack" Haines, 84, died at his residence September 30, 2007. Mr. Haines was born in Cuyahoga Falls where he had resided his entire life. He was a Veteran of WW2 having served in the Army Air Corps in China, Burma and India and was the recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross with one Oak Leaf Cluster and the Air Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Metta Haines; sister Norma Galehouse and brother, Bob Haines and is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jean; daughters, Connie (Howard) Freeman of Jacksonville, FL and Kim Sanders of Atlanta, GA; son, Doug (Candi) Haines of Stow; grandchildren, Colleen Finley, Damian Phillips, Corry and Matt Roberson, Eric and Alexander Haines and Jack Sanders; great-grandchildren, Avery and Payton Finley and Chase and Lauren Phillips and many nieces, nephews and friends.
The Family will greet friends from 5:00 to 6:30 pm Tuesday in The Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home 1930 Front St. Cuyahoga Falls where a Memorial Service will be conducted at 6:30 pm Tuesday, Father Thomas McCann officiating. Interment Oakwood Cemetery. In lieu of other remembrances, memorials may be made to Leukemia/Lymphoma Society 902 Westpoint Parkway, Suite 300 Cleveland, OH 44145 or to Hospice of Summa, 444 N.
