CUYAHOGA FALLS -John Leslie Hill, 87, passed away September 21, 2010. Mr. Hill was born in Shalersville , OH and had resided in Cuyahoga Falls most of his life. He retired as a machinist for Hunt Machine with 18 years service and had attended Broadman Baptist Church . He was a Veteran of WWII having served with the U. S. Navy for 10 years and had been involved with the bombing of Okinawa and Iwo Jima. He had served aboard the USS New York and his aircraft had been shot down.
Preceded in death by his 1st wife Winnifred, grandson, Tommy Woy, brother Calvin Hill and sister Phyllis Webb he is survived by his wife of 41 years, Violet; step-daughter, Dale (Jack) Woy of Cuyahoga Falls, grandchildren, Sherry (Tom) Williams of Mooresville, NC and Natalie Hatchett of Akron; great-grandchildren, Christy (Bret) Haynes and Shane and Brittany Williams; great-grandchildren, Layla and Landon Haynes and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday, Sept. 23 in the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home 1930 Front St. Cuyahoga Falls . A Funeral Service will be conducted at 11:00 am Friday, Sept. 24 in Broadman Baptist Church, 350 E. Bath Road, Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44223, Pastor Chris McCombs officiating. Friends may call at the Church for one hour prior to service time. Interment Oakwood Cemetery . In lieu of other remembrances, memorials may be made to Broadman Baptist Church.
