John A. Morgan, 78, passed away at his residence November 5, 2005 after suffering a five year degeneration of his lungs from interstitial pulmonary fibrosis, an incurable disease.
He served in the Army in the Philippines as World War II was ending. He was born in Youngstown, OH moving from there to Toronto, OH at age 7. After his Army service, he relocated to Akron. John attended Mt. Union College where he was a soloist with the Acappella Choir. He had a fine baritone voice. His joy of singing continued in the 60's at First United Methodist Church of Akron. He retired from Chrysler Stamping Plant in Twinsburg, OH after 30 years service.
He was preceded in death by his father, John A. Morgan; mother, Mary Loretta Morgan (nee Ferguson); sister, Florence Hughes and brother, Robert W. Morgan. Surviving are his adored wife of 48 years, Carol, his guardian angel, love of his life and best friend; dear children, sons, James E. (Sherry) Morgan of Akron, Robert W. (Diane) Morgan of Wadsworth and Dr. John D. Morgan of Seattle, WA; daughters, Lee Ann (Joe) Viscomi of Akron and Diane (Dale) Schall of Akron; precious grandchildren, Jessie Hatfield and Lucas Morgan, Jessica (Robert) Baulsir, Rachel and Laura Morgan, Andrea and Michael Viscomi and Alysha, Alexandria and Emily Schall.
Mr. Morgan leaves many precious friends at the Cuyahoga Falls Travel Club, where he enjoyed many trips and cruises to far away places. Thanks to all the friends at the Keystone Class of First United Methodist Church of Akron and all the dear friends too numerous to mention. John was an avid football fan of Mt. Union College, Ohio State University and the Cleveland Browns.

The Family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:30 pm Tuesday in The Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home 1930 Front St. Cuyahoga Falls. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 10:00 am Wednesday in the First United Methodist Church of Akron 263 E. Mill St. Akron, OH 44308, Rev. D. Lynn Snider officiating. Friends may also call at church beginning at 9:00 am Wednesday. Interment Northlawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Akron.
