CUYAHOGA FALLS - John G. Sax, Sr. of Cuyahoga Falls, age 61, passed away Sept. 3, 2013 at his beloved second home in Guernsey County, OH. He was born in Akron Dec. 6, 1951 and graduated from Woodridge High School in 1970. He was an amazing husband and father. John was an avid outdoorsman who was happiest hunting, trapping, fishing-anything outdoors he was in his element.
The legacy of Big John AKA Trapper to those who knew him best will always live on. Trapper touched the lives of so many. The joy of taking hunting/fishing trips with friends and family is what he loved most. There are many people in life that Trapper took hunting. The joy he shared of being there as he taught you the way of what he knew best, how to harvest an animal, to live off the land of God's creation. To look at this mountain of a man would take your breath away. His rugged figure and stern voice knew he meant business. But as you got to know the man, you knew he had a soft side. He loved the people that were in his life, and to those who really knew him knew he had the heart of a lamb.
At the end of the day he was happy. The last day on this earth the man was doing what he truly loved. He was out squirrel hunting in Guernsey County, land that he loved. And he was spending the week there with the woman that he loved just one day shy of 42 years.
To sum it up: as we may walk through the valley of the shadow of death, we shall fear no evil. John did not suffer, he went peacefully in the land he loved.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Martha. He is survived by his devoted wife of 42 years, Peggy; his children Jill Sax, Johny Sax, Jr., and Jesse (Jessica) Sax; sister, Sandy Rilling; and countless family and friends.
