Joe met Patty, the love of his life, and they were married in August 1962. They raised their three sons on North Hill.

Joe loved spending time outdoors doing a variety of activities including gardening and working with cut sandstone. He also enjoyed cooking and spending time with family and friends. Joe and Patty hosted Christmas Eve dinner and Easter Sunday brunch for over 50 years. Joe was a member of St. Anthony Church.

He is survived by his wife of 58 1/2 years, Patty (Amelio); sons and their wonderful wives, Michael and Shannon of Uniontown, Christopher and Jennifer of Sagamore Hills, and Patrick and Catherine of Pleasant Ridge, Michigan. He was fortunate to have five awesome grandchildren: Nathan, Amelia, Mathew, Nicholas, and Lucilia. He worked at Firestone for over 18 years and later retired from the City of Akron Water Department in 2004.
