Josephine "Jo" Stanovcak

Josephine “Jo” Stanovcak, 69, of Tallmadge, Ohio.

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our dear Mom, Grandma, sister, and friend. Jo passed away January 12, 2022 after fighting an 11 month battle with brain cancer. She faced her diagnosis with faith, optimism, and a peaceful spirit.

Jo was born in Youngstown, Ohio on September 15, 1952. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Youngstown State. Moving to the Cuyahoga Falls area, as a young mother, Jo was an active member in her community and fellowships. Jo retired in January of 2020 from National Church Residences after 29 years with the company. An accomplished violinist, she played for many years with the Tuscarawas Philharmonic Symphony. But her favorite venue was her beloved church community, Blessed Trinity in Akron.

Jo is predeceased by her father Paul Mineo, and her mother MaryAnn Fitzer.

Jo leaves behind daughter, Melinda Stanovcak; son, John Stanovcak and precious grandson, Wyatt Stanovcak; sister, Rose Silberman (Terry); brother, Frank Mineo (Maureen); father of her children, Michael Stanovcak, and many aunts and cousins.

Jo has met her Lord, and we believe she was greeted with a set of wings, and a golden violin.  Rest in Peace dear Jo.

Calling hours will be held from 5-8 PM on Wednesday January 19, 2022 at the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St. Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Thursday January 20, 2022 at Blessed Trinity Church, 300 East Tallmadge Ave. Akron, OH 44310.  Private inurnment at Chestnut Hill Memorial Park, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.

In lieu of other remembrances, memorials may be made to Blessed Trinity Food Pantry.
