Josie V. Robinson

Josie V. Robinson (Nee Logan) was born at home in Williamstown, West Virginia, Wood County on February 26, 1943. Her mother was Donna Dell Logan (Nee Ross) and her father, a barber was Henry Camden Logan.

She spent her early years on Blaze Run in the Town of Walker, WV. Like so many other family units Josie lived on the Run with extended family. She remembers playing in the creek that ran through the property and catching crawdads. A highlight of the day would be the long bus ride from Walker to the school in Parkersburg where Josie attended grade school. At other times she and numerous cousins would pile into the back of a pick-up truck for a trip into town.

Like so many other West Virginia families Josie’s mother took her to Worthington, Ohio where both mother and daughter packed vegetarian products into cans for the Worthington Food Company. For accommodations Josie and Donna Dell rented a very small apartment with shared bathroom facilities over a commercial property. One memory that stuck with Josie was of a brand-new bicycle her mother had scrimped and saved for that was stolen one night. Money was tight and the loss of that bicycle hurt. Grade school in Worthington was within walking distance from the apartment and Josie would walk to school accompanied by some friends.

With relatives living in Takoma Park, Maryland Josie and her mother moved there too. The high school Josie attended was Takoma Academy and that is where she graduated in 1961. It was during their time in Takoma Park that Donna cared for the Harding family who were instrumental in the development of Harding Hospital. A very small apartment in the Harding home is where Josie and her mother lived.

Upon completion of high school Josie worked at the Washington Sanitarium and Hospital in Takoma Park where she made lifelong friends. Josie was briefly married to James Sleeman of the U.S. Airforce. When that marriage dissolved she moved back to Worthington where she worked in a doctor’s office. After several years in the Columbus area she moved back to Maryland where she became involved with real estate. She owned a small apartment house in Takoma Park and began working for the David Feldmann property management company.

In 1985 Josie met and married Marvin J. Robinson of Takoma Park, Maryland. For the next 39 years Marvin and Josie were inseparable. Both enjoyed cruising and visiting new places in Europe, North America and North Africa. Josie purchased a townhouse in Annapolis which kept them both busy with upkeep and yardwork. Finally, after years of looking at Condominiums in the Silver Lake Towers complex the perfect unit came on the market and was purchased. The home in Linthicum Heights, Maryland was sold, and Josie and Marvin took occupancy June 12, 2023. At last, time to relax and let the staff do the maintenance and landscaping. And for a year that was Josie and Marvin’s life. Suddenly medical issues began to plague Josie and on July 30, she passed away peacefully in the arms of Marvin. A Memorial Service is being tentatively planned for the week of September 9, 2024.

Josie leaves behind her husband, Marvin Robinson, his daughter Heather Hendrix, nephews Gregory (and wife Colleen), Steve and Mark (Ike) and an extended family who live locally. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Ruth Isaacs and niece Cheryl Ann Beatty.
