TALLMADGE - Karen Lee Spessard, 72, passed away May 5, 2016. She was born in Washington, PA and resided in Tallmadge for the past 21 years. Karen graduated in 1961 from Akron East High School, and in 1965 from the University of Akron. She retired from the Cuyahoga Falls School System after teaching kindergarten and first grade for 18 years and 6th grade for 12 years. Karen was an avid reader and enjoyed cross stitching. She loved spending summer vacations at North Carolina Beach.
Preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Lenna Lee Hindman; mother and father-in-law; Carl and Thelma Spessard; she is survived by her husband of 50 years, David; sons, Scott (Jean) and Jeffrey; grandchildren, Mackenzie and Kyle, sisters, Marybeth (Dick) Morrison and Betsy (Charlie) Menickelly, brother and sister-in-law, Carl (Mary) Spessard; and many nieces, nephews and her beloved Golden Retriever, Kalee.
Cremation and a private burial has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday May 10, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church, 245 Portage Trail, Cuyahoga Falls, OH, 44221. The family will receive friends after the service. Dr. David Baker will be officiating.
