MUNROE FALLS – Katherine A. McMillen, 93, went home to be with the Lord February 3, 2021.
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit, you may abound in hope.” from Romans 15:13
Born in Akron and raised in Cuyahoga Falls, “Katie” had resided in Monroe Falls for the past 30 years, and previously in Silver Lake for 35 years. She was a graduate of Cuyahoga Falls High School. She attended Bethany United Church of Christ and was a faithful servant to the Lord. Katie was a dedicated wife who helped her husband John McMillen run the family business McMillen General Tire, then stayed home to raise four beautiful children who were her pride and joy. Katie showed her passionate and loving nature through teaching her children prayers such as table grace, and bedtime prayer.
She found joy in her family and her grandchildren, along with golf, gathering with friends to play bridge, fishing trips to Canada, and bowling. Katie and her husband John previously owned a lake house at Treasure Lake in Pennsylvania where she created memories with friends and family that will not pass on with the end of her earthly life, but will live on within her family. She loved to have everyone gathered around the same table. Katie’s love will carry on through cherished memories and she will be greatly missed.
Preceded in death by her husband, John McMillen; sister, Betty Hendrickson; and son, Gary McMillen. She is survived by her sister, Nancy Baird; children, Linda McMillen, Frank (Lori) McMillen, Dave (Vicki) McMillen, and daughter-in-law, Ava McMillen; grandchildren Kati Foster, Michael (April) McMillen, Andrew (Jen) McMillen, Kimberly (Chris) Murphy, Stacey McMillen, and Audrey McMillen; great-grandchildren, Natalie and Andersen Foster, Emma, James, and William McMillen, and Emily, Ethan, and Logan Murphy; with many beloved nieces and nephews.
