Kathryn Carcione

Kathryn Carcione, 83, passed away on October 29, 2008. She was born in Akron, Ohio to Elizabeth and Elmer Edwards on December 29, 1924. She lived her entire life in Akron. She graduated from Central High School in 1942, and from Hammel Actual Business College. She worked at B.F. Goodrich before she married and had two beloved daughters, Nancy and Betty. She worked as a bank teller and retired from North Akron Savings Association as head teller. She was a very active member of North Hill Methodist Church for much of her life, serving as Sunday school teacher, youth director, and social hall coordinator. Most recently, she was an active member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church serving as Eucharistic minister, commentator and PSR instructor.
She was PTA president at both the local and state levels. She was a member of Ne-Hta Chapter #500 Order of Eastern Star for 60 years and served as Worthy Matron. She was Mother Advisor for many years to Earl S. Hollen Assembly #97 Order of Rainbow for Girls.
Kathryn considered her family to be her greatest joy in life. She provided unconditional love and was always proud of their personal and professional accomplishments. Kathryn loved to entertain and was known for her incredible baking skills. She woke up every morning wondering what she could bake that day. Kathryn enjoyed playing cards, especially bridge. She was always gracious and kind to everyone. She remained positive, loving and caring to the very end of her life.
Kathryn is survived by her husband of 22 years, John; her daughters and their families Nancy and Dennis Whalen, Betty and Joel Siegfried; grandson Edward Whalen and his wife Jennifer; step daughters Cheryl (Paul) Sasinouski, Bernadette (Bill) Kiel; step grandchildren Jon Kiel and Lynn (Joe) Pak, nieces Barb and Valerie Edwards, numerous cousins and friends.
Friends may call at the Clifford Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls on Sunday, November 2 from 3 to 7 p.m. The mass of the Christian burial will be held at St. Anthony's Church on Monday, November 3 at 10:00 a.m. Interment at Woodlawn Cemetery in Wadsworth. If desired, memorials in her honor may be made to The Alzheimer's Association, 1815 W. Market St, Akron, 44313 or St. Anthony's Church, 83 Mosser Place, Akron, 44310.
