Kathryn Porter

CUYAHOGA FALLS - Kathryn Faye (Cross) Porter, 88, of Cuyahoga Falls passed away on September 24, 2015. She was born in Akron, Ohio on October 30, 1927, the daughter of the late James A. and Ione (Stipp) Cross. Many years ago, Kathryn was very active in the Uniontown Elementary PTA and she enjoyed her involvement tremendously.

She married her beloved husband Robert Edwin Porter on May 29, 1993 and they shared in 17 years of marriage until he passed away on August 8, 2010. She is also preceded in death by her parents, and her sisters, Bernice and Evelyn Cross.

Kathryn will be missed by her family and friends; step-children, Kathleen (Paul) Thaxton, of Bluffton, SC, Karen (Dave) Shearer, of Columbus, OH, and Dr. Robert E. (Patricia) Porter, Jr., of North Oaks, MN; step grandchildren, Kristin (Lee) Austin, of Olney, MD, Shannon Shearer, David Shearer, both of Columbus, OH; step great grandchildren, Landon Shearer and Madison Austin, and long-time friend, Carolyn Gehrett, of Randolph, OH.

The family would like to express sincere gratitude and appreciation for the compassionate care given by the staff of Stow Glen Retirement Community and Great Lakes Caring Hospice.

Friends will be received on September 30, 2015 from 12-1 p.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. at Clifford Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221. Chaplain Ryan Lennon will officiate and burial will take place with her husband at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society, 7996 Darrow Rd., Twinsburg, OH 44087. Services entrusted to Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home and Crematory, 330-928-2147.
