Kenneth Sunderland

CANAL FULTON - Kenneth Alton Sunderland (Kenny), 71, of Canal Fulton, OH, passed away on October 25, 2014, after a valiant battle with cancer. He was born in Akron and resided in Canal Fulton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and Alton Sunderland, and by his son Mark. Kenny will be lovingly remembered by Janet, his beloved wife of 45 years, son Paul (Terri ) of Greenville, IL; daughter Julie, of Green, OH; and treasured grandchildren Justin Ross, William Sunderland, Kyle Sunderland, Leah Sunderland, and Rylee Miller.
Kenny retired from the Firestone Rubber Company after 40 years of service. In his retirement, he was actively involved at the Northampton United Methodist Church in Cuyahoga Falls, and at Heart4The City Ministries in Akron. He served prisoners through Kairos Prison Ministries, was "Grandpa Kenny" to foster children through Royal Family Kids Camp, and started a bicycle ministry for children in the East Akron area. He lived by faith in Christ, and loved with selfless action.
The Sunderland family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Dr. Trochelman and Associates and the 7th floor nurses at City Hospital whose care for Kenny went far beyond the medical.
Calling hours will be held Sunday November 2, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St. Cuyahoga Falls. A celebration of Kenny's life will be held Monday, November 3 at 11:00 a.m. at Northampton United Methodist Church 852 West Bath Road, Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44223. Pastor Keith McLaughlin and Pastor Brett Bartels will officiate. In lieu of other remembrances memorials may be made to Heart 4 The City, 954 Eastland Ave., Akron, 44305.
