Laura Mellinger

CUYAHOGA FALLS - Laura Mellinger, 89, passed away on September 11, 2023. Born in Akron, Ohio, she was a graduate of Cuyahoga Falls High School and earned a degree at Kent State University.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Ruth Happoldt.

She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Donald, and her sons, Jeffrey (Betsy) and Gregory (Cathy); four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Her family and friends will miss her dearly.

Laura lived in 6 different countries with her husband and family, making many friends before moving back to the area. She was a member of the American Women’s Association of Singapore where she sang in the choir for 10 years. Laura was a long-time member of the Falls Chapter No. 245 Order of the Eastern Star. She also loved to read, play mahjong, and do cross stitch projects.

Private graveside burial for the immediate family will be conducted at the Oakwood Cemetery.

The family is forever grateful for the compassion and skilled care of the doctors, nurses, and entire staff of Summa Akron City.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Christian Church, 230 Stow Avenue, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio 44221.
