Lena Macale

CUYAHOGA FALLS - On January 26th, 2017 Lena Ida Macale passed away at the age of 90. Lena was born to Swiss parents, Fred and Rosa Straubhaar in St. Maurin, France, on July 10th, 1926. She came to the USA at the age of 2 and grew up on the family farms in Hiram and Peninsula, Ohio. She lived in Northampton and Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio in her adult life as a homemaker and mother.

Lena was preceded in death by her loving husbands, George G. Chase Sr. of 20 years, and Joseph Macale of 22 years; parents, Fred and Rosa Straubhaar; brother, Fred Straubhaar Jr.; sister, Margaret Wagoner; and daughter-in-law, Nancy Chase.

Lena is survived by her loving daughters, Linda (Steven) Stimmel and Diane (Martin) Pitts; son, George (Chris) Chase; step-sons, Mark and Mike Macale; and cherished grandchildren, Daniel Stimmel, Meghan Howell, Mathew Chase, Rebecca Kuznarsky, Bill Pitts and Renee Pitts; great-grandchildren, Chase Pitts, Simon and Grace Howell; and sister, Martha (Francis) Lucas.

Lena had a great love for her family and friends, gardening, and crafts. Lena was a member of Pilgrim United Church of Christ since 1950.

Appreciation goes to Bath Creek Estates and Hospice of Summa for wonderful care, and to Pastor Kirk Bruce of Pilgrim United Church of Christ for his many visits and comfort to Lena. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of Summa or the Pilgrim United Church of Christ will be appreciated.

Friends may call 2 hours prior to an 12 PM funeral service on Monday January 30, 2017 in the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home 1930 Front St. Cuyahoga Falls, OH, 44221. Interment Northlawn Memorial Gardens. Services entrusted to Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home and Crematory, 330-928-2147.
