Leora B. Long

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Leora (Lee) Long, who transitioned into the next phase of life on Oct. 15, 2022.  

Preceding and waiting for her are her husband Edward Long Sr., grandson Robert Faris and having lived 95 years on this earth numerous family and friends.

She is survived by children: Edward Long Jr., Beth Manwaring, Judy Faris.  Grandchildren: Caitlyn Manwaring, Lindsay Manwaring, Jenn McGhee (Adam) and great grandchild Eli McGhee.

Other than family and friends her 2 great loves were teaching chair caning (and if you didn't do it correctly she would inevitably make you tear it out and start over) and baseball.  Being a lifelong resident of the Akron area she witnessed remarkable changes; although never quite accepted the Indians to Guardians transformation.  Her remarkable strength and tenacity allowed her to remain with us for many years until her body was just done.

"Only when you drink from the river of silence shall you indeed sing.  And when you have reached the mountaintop, then you shall begin to climb.  And when the earth shall claim your limbs, then you shall truly dance."

Guests are welcome for visitation on Thursday, Oct. 20, 2022 from 4-7 pm at Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221.  Visitation will also be held on Friday, Oct. 21 from 10-11 am, followed by a funeral service at 11 am, officiated by Fr. Jim Singler, also at the funeral home.  She will be laid to rest at Oakwood Cemetery.
