Luella Averill

CUYAHOGA FALLS - Luella V. Averill, 96, of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, passed away January 12, 2018, after a brief illness.
She was born April 20, 1921, in Cadillac, MI, to Vilettia and Irving Hackstedt. The first half of her life was spent in Cadillac and Grand Rapids, MI, and in 1963 moved to Cuyahoga Falls with her family.
Luella had a full and happy life and was preceded in death by her husband, F. Frank Averill. She is survived by her daughter, Susan (Dennis) Wright of Hudson, OH; sons, Paul of Cuyahoga Falls and Greg (Marybeth) of Franklin, TN; granddaughter, Kimberly (Eric) Bernier of Matthews, NC; grandson, Steve (Julie) Wright of Houston, TX, and granddaughter, Erin (Eric) Brown of Thompsons Station, TN, and great grandchildren, Ryan, Jacob and Katelyn Bernier, Carter and Charlotte Wright, and Paxton and Parker Brown.
She was dedicated to her family but always found time for others. In her earlier years she taught elementary school in Cadillac, Mi. In Ohio she volunteered at Ronald McDonald House, Giving Dolls, delivered Mobile Meals, was a member of First United Methodist Church of Cuyahoga Falls for 54 years, served on church committees and was a member of the Bell Choir. She was also a 50-year member of P.E.O., an educational philanthropic organization.
Besides being a constant volunteer she was a great cook, not only for her family but for others in need. Along with her cooking skills she was an avid golfer well in to her 80's, loved card games, bowling, stamping, card making and was a loyal Buckeye fan.
Friends may call from 5-7 PM on Monday January 15, 2018 in the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home 1930 Front St. Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221. Friends may also call a half hour prior to a 10:30 AM Funeral Service on Tuesday January 16 at the First United Methodist Church 245 Portage Trail Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221. Interment will be at Maple Hill Cemetery Cadillac, MI. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to the church or a charity of your choice. Services entrusted to Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home and Crematory, 330-928-2147.
