CUYAHOGA FALLS - Madelyn F. Wright, 81, of Cuyahoga Falls, passed away at Akron City Hospital May 9, 2011.
She was born June 26, 1929 in Boydsville, Ohio and raised in Marianna, PA. Madelyn, the oldest of three, was the daughter of the late Frank and Anna (Sadowski) Detts.
Madelyn graduated from the Washington Hospital School of Nursing, Washington, PA. She and her husband John W. Wright were married November of 1952 then moved to Cuyahoga Falls where they lived and enjoyed 49 years of marriage until his passing in 2002. Madelyn was employed by Akron City Hospital retiring in 1997, serving for 45 years as a Registered Nurse. Madelyn was also a member of the local Red Hat Society.
She is survived by her two sons John F. Wright (Lisa) of Canton and Michael F. Wright (Karen) of Stow; 6 grandchildren, Lauren A., John J., Michael W. (Mia), Kristin L., Christopher W. and Emily A.; one great-grand daughter Ava Madelyn; her brother Donald Detts; and nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Madelyn was preceded in death by her sister Judith (Detts) Stall.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 pm Thursday, May 12 in the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 am Friday, May 13 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Interment Oakwood Cemetery. In lieu of other remembrances, memorials may be made to The Greater Akron Lions Eye Care Program, PO Box 284, Tallmadge, OH 44278. Arrangements handled by Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 330-928-2147.
