TALLMADGE - Margaret Marie Markle, 78, fell asleep in the Lord on Friday April 17, 2015.
Margaret was born in Akron, Ohio to her parents, Charles and Alice (Trafka) Harshbarger on September 27, 1936. Margaret grew up in west Akron, Copley Rd., Grace Ave. area in the company of friends, cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents who all lived in the same area. Margaret was an accomplished tap dancer and graduated from Buchtel High School in 1954 and along with her cousin Joyce Smith went to work at Ohio Bell Telephone as switchboard operators. Margaret met Don, her future husband at the telephone company. Don installed Telephone Equipment for Western Electric. By 1958 Don was in the Air Force. Margaret and Don were married in September and left Ohio for a year and a half in Alaska and two years in Louisiana. In 1962 Margaret returned to the Switchboards, City and St. Thomas Hospitals, Akron Welding and Spring and pausing to raise a son and daughter, and finally Summit County Medical until retirement.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; aunts and uncles, Marie and Bill Smith, Edna and Bud Sollberger. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Don Markle; her daughter Melissa Thomas and son-in-law Andy of Hilliard. A son, Gregory Markle of Tallmadge; grandchildren, Sean, Ryan and Matthew Thomas; brother Otto (Sondra) Harshbarger of Baton Rouge; cousins Joyce and Jim Miller of Norton, Diane and Curt McClusky of Stow and Karen and Cliff Perry of Wadsworth and many nieces nephew and friends, Liz, Bill, Jessie, Robert and Sue, Karen, Fred and Phyllis, Phil and Cathy, Rose and Joe, and Vicky.
Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday April 22 in the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St, Cuyahoga Falls where a Funeral Service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 23, Pastor Kent Jarvis officiating. Private interment Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Absolute Hospice, 339 E Maple St. N Canton, OH 44720 or Altercare of Cuyahoga Falls, 2728 Bailey Rd, Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221.
