COPLEY - Margaret M. Materna, PHD, 83 passed away October 27, 2010.
Margaret was born in Detroit, Michigan, graduated from West High School in 1945, and received her undergraduate degree from Bowling Green, then her Masters and PHD Degrees in Education from the University of Akron. She taught English for 40 years at Kimpton Middle School for the Stow-Munroe Falls Schools and was an active member of the Bulldog Club of America, the Buckeye Bulldogs of America and the Bulldog Club of Greater Cleveland for 40 years and was a licensed judge for the American Kennel Club. She has lived in Copley since 1972 and was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Akron.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Horace and Ruby Mill; sister, Jane Allison; husband, James Materna and grandson, Nicholas J, and is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Ralph and Lisa; daughter, Susan; grandchildren, Michael and Maria Materna and Jacque Adams; nieces and nephews, Lisa Kochheiser, Laurel (Mike) Qualls, Louise (Brian) Isroff and Rob (Jenny) Allison; many great-nieces and -nephews and sisters-in-law, Carol Materna and Carol (Materna) Maxson.

Friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Friday, November 5 in the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St, Cuyahoga Falls. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 11:00 am Saturday, November 6, 2010 in St. Paul's Episcopal Church Chapel, 1361 W. Market St., Akron. Entombment Rose Hill Burial Park.
