Marilyn E. Butcher, 71, died unexpectedly January 17, 2011. Mrs. Butcher was born in Detroit, MI and had resided in Akron the past 7 years, moving here from Canton, MI. She retired in 2002 as Executive Asst. in the Engineering Dept. at the University of Michigan at Dearborn with 21 years' service and was a member of the American Legion Aux. in St. Helen, MI. Marilyn enjoyed making jewelry and was going to start her own business, her kids and grandkids were her life and she dearly loved her dog Winston.

Preceded in death by her son, Timothy Stapleton; step-son, Joseph LoMedico; parents, Maurice and Irene Pierson and previous husband, Salvatore LoMedico, she is survived by her loving husband, Jack R.; daughter, Carol (Jim) Stickel of Canton, OH; step-children, Lino (Tari) LoMedico of Ontario, Canada, Angelo (Karen) LoMedico of Ft. Myers, FL, Jack Butcher II of San Bernardino, CA and Charlotte (Allen) Giacoma of Akron; grandchildren, Seaman 1st Class Garland Stickel, USN, serving his country overseas, Samantha Stickel of Canton, OH and Josh Stapleton of Central Michigan University at Mt. Pleasant, MI and step-grandchildren, Jonathan, Robert, Daniel, Nathan and Vanessa LoMedico and Isabelle and Alexandria Giacoma and Sara Butcher; brother, John Pierson of St. Helen, MI; sister, Carole (Don) Kleis of Huntsville, AL and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday, January, 20th in the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls where a Funeral Service will be conducted at 11:00 am Friday, January 21, 2011 Rev. James McKenzie officiating. Final resting place Rose Hill Burial Park. In lieu of other remembrances, memorials may be made to the Humane Society 7996 Darrow Road, Twinsburg, OH 44087.
