CUYAHOGA FALLS - Marshall Hyden, 93, passed away at his home on July 6, 2016.
He was born in a coal camp in Kingston, West Virginia on June 12, 1923. He was the son of the late William and Lula (Armstrong) Hyden. He moved to Ohio where he met his wife of 65 years, Jean C. (Setzer). He retired as an engineer from Goodyear Aerospace with over 35 years of service. He was active in the Ohio Society of Manufacturing Engineers and was a member of Coventry-Akron Lodge No. 83 of the F.andA.M. of Ohio. He had lectured and given demonstrations for various area schools and had served as a judge for both the Akron Science Fair and Junior Achievement. He was a member of the Covenant United Presbyterian Church in which he served as the President of the Board of Trustees for 12 years.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Kay Hyden; son, James Marshall Hyden; siblings, Leona (Clyde) Gray, Basil (Ruth) Hyden, Minnie (Joseph) Milliken, Virginia (William) Davis, Gloria (Orland) Wallace, Carl (Joanne) Hyden, Lorraine (Paul) Osburn and Russell Hyden. He will be dearly missed by his wife, Jean and children, Cynthia (Richard) Kent, Joan (Steven) Subichin, Joyce (David) Travis, Catherine (Steven) Beaverly, and Dr. Marshall Hyden II; daughter-in-law, Merri Hyden; grandchildren, Sarah, Stephen, Amanda (Tim), Michael (Katherine), Michelle, Lisa (Josh), Robert and Alexandra; great-grandchildren, Stella and Loralei; sister, Joetta Light; special friends, Stanislaw Gerchak and Dan and Danielle Wahl. A special thank you to son-in-law David Travis.
Friends may call from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 9 in the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St, Cuyahoga Falls. The family will be having interment services at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Services entrusted to Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home and Crematory, 330-928-2147.
