CUYAHOGA FALLS - Martha Jane Parks, age 90, died Sunday August 7 after a short illness. She was born in southern Ohio, to William and Letha Roberts. Except for a brief period during World War II, she lived her entire life in Cuyahoga Falls. During the 1930's she took art lessons from a WPA art instructor. Her painting sustained her through good times and bad, she continued painting until she was 89. She also enjoyed reading, poetry and photography. She graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School in 1937 and after many years as a homemaker worked at Walden Books for 10 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Letha Roberts; her brother, Ralph Roberts; son Billy Parks; and husband of 51 years, Robert Elton Parks; She is survived by daughter, Caroline Stilwell (David) of Rittman; son, Robert Steven Parks (Linda) of Streetsboro; granddaughters, Carli and Leanna Parks; grandsons, Ben and Chris Baker; and good friend of 83 years, Thora Long of Akron. The family would like to thank the staffs of Visiting Nurse Hospice and Traditions at Bath Rd. for their loving care.
Friends may call from 6-8 PM on Thursday August 11 in the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home 1930 Front St. Cuyahoga Falls, Oh, 44221, where a funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, August 12. Rev. Paul Beal will be officiating. Interment Chestnut Hill Memorial Park.
