Mary Leonard

CUYAHOGA FALLS - Mary E. (McClain) Leonard (age 98) went to her eternal rest the evening of February 19, 2016. She was born in New Castle, PA where she resided until 1993 when she moved to Cuyahoga Falls, OH.

She was the beloved wife of the late Ralph R. Leonard, devoted mother of Marilyn and husband John Hanna (both deceased), Robert (Bonnie), Arthur (Kathleen), Gary (Cheryl), cherished grandmother of Jeffrey (Chris), Rebecca (Dale), Chad, Eric (Stephanie), Jennifer (Todd), Carrie (Andrew), Christian (deceased), Dean (Christan), Matt (Kiersten), great grandmother of 16 and great-great grandmother of 1. She was a 1935 graduate of New Castle High School.

She was united in marriage 76 years with Ralph R. Leonard. She is survived by a sister Dorothy Nastal and brother Fred McClain and preceded in death by sisters, Betty Galupi, Ruth Stewart and brothers Walt, Frank, and Art McClain. As a stay-home mom, Mary enjoyed cooking for her family. She was active in the Women's Guild of the First Methodist Church of New Castle. She and Ralph traveled the country after his retirement from the B and O Railroad. She and Ralph were members of the Community Baptist Church of Tallmadge, OH.

In lieu of remembrances, memorials may be made to the Community Baptist Church of Tallmadge, 274 N. Monroe Road, Tallmadge, OH 44278. The family will announce a memorial service for family and friends at the Community Baptist Church. Services entrusted to Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home and Crematory, 330-928-2147.
