Mary Seymour

STOW - Mary Elizabeth Seymour fell asleep in the arms of Jesus January 22, 2015 and now knows the great mystery of eternity. She was born the only child of Aud Benjamin Chastain and Mary Lillian (Souther) Chastain September 4, 1948 in Akron, Ohio. She is survived by her loving husband of 43 years John Ralph Seymour whom she married on March 20, 1971. She leaves son Matthew Jonathon Seymour, his wife Catherine, daughters Amanda and Maya of Fairbanks, Alaska and son Michael Jeffery Seymour, his wife Kristy, son Hayden of Akron, Ohio. She is also survived by cousins in Georgia, Illinois, Ohio and South Carolina. Family also includes James and Diane Seymour in Florida with family in Michigan plus Robert and Barbra Seymour in California with family in California and Texas.

She was an active member of Bethany United Church of Christ in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio where she has served as President of Consistory, Chair of Finance and Stewardship Committees as well as a long time Sunday School teacher. She was a graduate of Kent State University and Methodist Theological School in Ohio where she earned her Master of Divinity degree. For 15 years she served in the position of Vice President of the Cornerstone Fund of the United Church of Christ in Cleveland, Ohio.

Mary enjoyed knitting, travel, reading and being with her grandchildren. She and John were blessed to live in Tanzania East Africa and India in connection with John's employment in the 1970's before settling in Stow, Ohio.

Calling hours will be Friday January 30th from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Clifford Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St, Cuyahoga Falls. A Funeral Service will be held at Bethany United Church of Christ Saturday January 31st at 10:00 AM. Interment Rose Hill Burial Park. Memorials may be made to Bethany United Church of Christ, 1235 Broad Blvd, Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44223. Services entrusted to Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home and Crematory, 330-928-2147.
