Mary Tunstall

CUYAHOGA FALLS- Mary Tunstall, 86, passed away on February 26, 2023 in the home where she and her husband Kenny lived since 1960.

Mary was born in Akron, Ohio to Samuel and Sarah Neff on July 2, 1936. She was a graduate of North High School, class of 1954, and continued her education at The University of Akron where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Education. She taught in the Cuyahoga Falls public school system as both a teacher and reading tutor. An avid swimmer, she could often be seen swimming at the Natatorium or any lake or ocean. Mary also enjoyed reading, knitting, travel, cards and singing. She was a member of the choir at First United Methodist Church where she and Kenny recently celebrated 50 years of membership. A member of the Suzanna Circle and Prayer Shawl Ministry at First Church, she also spent many hours volunteering for other organizations, including Open M, Good Neighbors, and others. She was involved in all her children’s activities and endeavors, whether it be scouting, church group, swim team, marching band, and the arts. Her biggest joy and legacy would be her unending love for family (she thought of everyone in her presence as family) and she would knit stockings, blankets, and booties for all!

Mary will be greatly missed by her husband of 63 years, Kenny Tunstall, her children Arnold Tunstall (Ross Dilley), Kevin Tunstall (Mark Brewer), and Kathy Tunstall, and her extended family full of nieces, nephews and their children.

She was preceded in death by her siblings Maggie Mains and Norman Neff and many other dear friends and family.

The family would like to thank the Summa Hospice staff for their compassionate care and assistance with her final bout of cancer.

Cremation has taken place and there will visiting hours from 10am to 12pm on Friday March 3, 2023 and memorial service following at 12pm. Both the visitation and memorial service will be at First United Methodist Church, 245 Portage Trail, Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221.
