Mel Betzner

CUYAHOGA FALLS - Mel S. Betzner, 52, passed away Sunday after a long illness.

Mr. Betzner was born in Cleveland, Ohio and had lived in Cuyahoga Falls the past 13 years, moving there from Kent. He graduated from the John Marshall University and worked for Akron Summit Community Action as a host site developer and was active in the Share Program providing food for people with inadequate incomes. His life centered around helping people.

Preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Margaret Betzner and sister, Rebekah Betzner, he is survived by his wife of 12 years Eloise; children Stephanie (Bruce) Betzner of Rittman, Nicole Betzner of Rittman, Nathan Betzner of Cuyahoga Falls; step-children, Michael (Melissa) Shade of IN, Travis Shade of Kent, Matthew Shade of Cuyahoga Falls; five grandchildren and sister Debbie Lott.

A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorials may be made to the family c/o Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St. Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221.
