Melvin Newsome, Jr.

Melvin Eugene Newsome Jr. age 62, passed away on July 5th, 2021. Melvin was born on September 21st, 1958. He was a very loving husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Mel loved working on anything that he could get his hands on; whether that meant working on cars, or doing woodwork for backyard projects. One of his favorite things to do though was going to the car shows on Front Street every summer. Winning ribbons, plaques, and even trophies for the cars he and his daughters worked on together. He enjoyed listening to his rock music and even going to concerts for some of his favorite bands like Deep Purple and Alice Cooper. His life was full of love and laughter from all the memories and good times with family.

Mel is preceded in death by his mother Sandra Newsome (nee Dick) and father Melvin Newsome Sr. He is survived by his wife Karen Newsome (nee Somppi), his daughters Jennifer (Tony) and Tracie Newsome, his son David (Nicole) Newsome, his sister Pamela (Stewart) McDowell, grandchildren Noah, Faith, Damian, Lacie, and great-grandchildren Paisley and Stella, along with 3 more on the way, and the many pets we've had together. Melvin was a welcoming and loving person and he will be missed dearly. We love you.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 from 5-7pm at Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 15, 2021 at 11am at Chestnut Hill Burial Park, 2613 Sackett Ave., Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44223.
