Michael Martz

Michael Dennis “Denny” Martz, 68, of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio passed away Friday, May 25, 2018 at his home surrounded by family.   Denny was born in Ravenna, Ohio on March 19, 1950 and at the age of 10 he began contributing to the family business by sweeping floors at Martz Mold & Machine, Inc. which was established in 1944 by his father, Charles I. Martz.  Denny graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School in 1968 and immediately committed his entire professional career helping to build and maintain a successful family business that has prospered for 74 years.  Denny became a Brethren of the W. Edwin Palmer Lodge No. 718 F&AM (Past Master) as well as 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Valley of Akron, and a Shriner.

Denny loved spending time with family and friends any chance he could get.  Many weekends and holidays were enjoyed either boating at Marblehead, Lake Erie, hunting, fishing, or playing a mean game of cards.  As the years passed and health issues mounted, his positive attitude, constant humor, and warm smile were an inspiration to all.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years Marcia (Gannon); daughters Melissa Martz, Madeline “Mandy” Heitz (Shean); son Dennis “James” Martz; sister Susan Kain, brother William Francis “Bill” Martz, grandchildren Hayes Heitz and Nathan Heitz; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret and Charles Martz; sister, Karen Leisenring; brother Charles Lawrence “Larry” Martz; and sister-in-law Judi Martz.

The family would like to thank the numerous doctors, nurses and medical staff for their years of care and support as well as the Hospice of The Western Reserve team for their guidance and compassion.

Memorial Visitation will be held Thursday, May 31, 2018 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. with a Masonic Funeral Service following at 7:30 p.m. at Clifford–Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St.,Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221.
