CUYAHOGA FALLS - Michael R. Smith, 69, passed away January 11, 2015. He was born in Anacortes, WA and was a life-long Cuyahoga Falls resident. Mike Graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School in 1963 and served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was a Lieutenant and EMT on the Cuyahoga Falls Fire Dept. retiring after 28 years of service. Mike was president of the Cuyahoga Falls Dive Team serving northeast Ohio. He was past commander of the American Legion Charles Faust Post 281, was a member of the Free Masons and the VFW Ralph Huff Post.
Preceded in death by his former wife, Sandy Smith Hurley; he is survived his wife Dawn of 14 years; children, Kim (Brad) Smith Delaura, Terri (Greg) Petersen, Sergeant Beth (Bradley) McDonald, Paul Thornton and Phyllis (Tim) Miller; grandchildren, Mark Alan Michael Hoppe, Jenna Smith, Jacob, Taylor and Alex Petersen, Hope, Bradley and Harlow McDonald; siblings, Kent Smith and Jody (John) Conley; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Thursday January 15, 2015 in the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home 1930 Front St. Cuyahoga Falls, OH, 44221, where a funeral service will be held at 12 PM on Friday January 16. Interment Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. In lieu of other remembrances, memorials may be made to Falls Fighters and Community Society Inc. P.O. Box 1022 Cuyahoga Falls, OH, 44223.
