CUYAHOGA FALLS -Monica Clare Whitmyer, 84, passed away February 10, 2015. Mrs. Whitmyer was born in Stow, raised in Akron and had resided in Cuyahoga Falls since 1957. She was a member of both St. Joseph's Catholic Church of Cuyahoga Falls and St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church of Norton. Monica retired from the Summit County Board of Elections and had been a board member of Buckeye State Credit Union. As a passionate and hardworking Democrat, Monica was always involved in the political process, campaigning for many prominent elected officials in the Summit County political arena. She was a proud member of many political organizations including the Federated Democrat Women of Summit County, the Cuyahoga Falls Democratic Club, the Cuyahoga Falls Women's Democratic Study Club, the Summit County Democratic Central Committee and the National Democratic Committee.

Monica lived a life devoted to her beloved husband, her family and friends, her faith, and her belief in Democracy and service to others. As all who knew her will attest, Monica believed in the beauty of the human spirit, and the innate good she was able to see in everyone.

Preceded in death by her husband Richard "Bus" T. in 2002; son, Robert "Red" Jenkins; and all of her beloved brothers and sisters; she is survived by her children, Dick (Lawana Nelson) Jenkins of Phoenix, AZ, Amy (Dave) Ulichney of Norton, MaryBeth (Larry Murray) Whitmyer of Barberton and Walter (Elizabeth) Whitmyer of Akron; grandchildren, Rick, Robert, Tracy, Jason, Danny, David, Diawna, Lucas, Andrea, Eric, Jeffery, Mathew, Julia Clare, Haydn and Elliot; 26 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A special thanks to Megan Johnson (and her son Tyler) for her loving, tender, and patient care of our Mother.

Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-9 on Friday February 13, 2015 in the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home 1930 Front St. Cuyahoga Falls, OH, 44221. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM on Saturday February 14 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. In lieu of other remembrances, memorials may be made to Falls Cancer Club, Inc. P.O. Box 3244 Cuyahoga Falls, OH, 44223 or the Alzheimer's Association 70 W. Streetsboro Rd. Hudson, OH, 44236. Services entrusted to Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home and Crematory, 330-928-2147.
