STOW – Nancy J. (Dettrick) Nash became perfect at 9:37 am on Tuesday, 15 December 2020.
She was born 10 May of 1942, in Erie, Pennsylvania, and loved life every step of the way. When she was fourteen, she met a boy who gave her some birthday swats and they have been together ever since, enjoying 59 years of marriage.
Along with her husband, Chuck, Nancy lived in Pennsylvania, Mississippi, Missouri, and Ohio, brought three sons into the world, traveled to Las Vegas, Key West, and Europe, and loved to sit quietly and watch the deer come out of the woods. She worked for many years at nearly all the Brown Derby restaurants, opening several more, and generally making herself indispensable. Then, she retired and worked in Pain Management for the Western Reserve Hospital in Cuyahoga Falls.
Though battling dementia in her later years, she retained a child-like sense of wonder and was at peace with herself and the world. Even in the nursing home, where she spent the last few months of her life, they commented that she could always be heard singing.
She was a wonderful wife, a loving mother, a gentle, caring person, and a believer that having fun is at least as important as being responsible.
Nancy is preceded into the Lord’s arms by her parents, Albert and Irene; her sons, Jeffery and Christopher; and her daughter, Janet (Chris’ wife). She is survived by her husband, Charles (Chuck); her sister, Barbara; her brother, Curt (Barb’s husband); her son, Charles (Charlie); her daughter, Karen (Charlie’s wife); her daughter, Sandra; and her granddaughter, Hailea.
We will be forever grateful for the care and caring the good folks at Continuing Healthcare and SarahCare showed her.
