Oleta Josephine Witherell

Oleta Josephine Witherell (nee Ellis) of Cuyahoga Falls died on November 23, 2024. She was born March 28, 1935 in Robbinsville, North Carolina to James and Olivia Ellis. Oleta came to Ohio when she was 15 years old and graduated from North High School in Akron, Ohio.She worked for the Government and for Goodyear Aerospace. She met the love of her life Robert Witherell and married him 2 years later. They built a house in Cuyahoga Falls and lived there for 50 years.

She loved ballroom dancing and going out to eat with her friends and cooking. She was a member of Bailey Road Christian Church where she and her husband were very active. 

Oleta was preceded in death by her husband Robert of 46 years, James Ellis father, Olivia Ellis mother, Aunt MaryJane and Aunt Martha, great-great grandsons Owen Robert Disher, John Glenn Disher, and Samual Disher. 

Oleta is survived by daughter Janet Appeldorn and son-in-law John Appeldorn, Grandchildren Angela Mueller (Brian), Rocky Flynn, Stephen Flynn (Sabrina), Kelsey Sullivan (Cory), and Danielle Disher (Glenn), Great-grandchildren Rachel Lawrence, Rebecca Lawrence, Alyssa Flynn, Shyla Belnap (Flynn), Skylar Flynn, Kalie Flynn, Nevaeh Sullivan and Issac Disher, Great-great grandson Michael Cannon, Sisters Selma Emerson of Georgia, and Lillian Reynolds of Michigan, Brother Harold Ellis (Kay) of California, and Sister-in-law Gail Westphal. 

Guests are welcome on Wednesday November 27, 2024 for visitation from 11am - 1pm followed by the funeral service at 1pm, all at Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221. Burial at Oakwood Cemetery.
