BARBERTON -Paul W. "Pike" Bednarik, 84, died October 14, 2008. Born in Barberton, he resided in Barberton and Norton his entire life. He was a 1942 graduate of Barberton High School where he was starting half-back and become known as Shifty-shy from Barberton High. Pike was a Veteran of WWII having served with the U. S. Navy, retired from the Ohio Brass Company and later worked as a mail courier for Bank One for ten years where he thoroughly loved his job and enjoyed the friends he made there. He loved sports, especially watching the Browns and the Buckeyes and enjoyed his ethnic picnics with his family. He loved going to cardiac rehab at the Akron General Wellness Center at Montrose and his special girlfriends there.

Preceded in death by his wife, Dottie in March of this year, parents, Karl and Josephine Bednarik and sister, Joan Rebec, Pike is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Kim Bednarik; daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Bob Houser, all of Barberton; brother and sister-in-law, Karl and Bellie Bednarik of Genoa, OH; sister and brother-in-law, Emma and Paul Momchilov and special niece, Elaine Momchilov, all of Wadsworth and special pets, Molly, Suzy and the gentlemen.

A Funeral Service will be conducted at 1:00 pm Friday in The Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home 1930 Front St. Cuyahoga Falls, Rev. Bob Denton officiating. Friends may call beginning at 12:00 NOON Friday. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of other remembrances, memorials may be made to Furnace St. Mission 150 Furnace St. Akron, OH 44304.
