CUYAHOGA FALLS - Paul G. Stephan, Jr. was called to heaven surrounded by his family on Friday, March 10, 2017 in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. Paul's earthly life ended at the age of 67 after a long, courageous battle with esophageal cancer.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Mary; his children, Tim (Amy) of Green, Ohio and Christine (Ryan) Reasoner of Union, Kentucky and six grandchildren, Andrew, Matthew, Lauren, Jonny, Grant and Emily.
Paul was born on August 9, 1949 in Akron, Ohio to his parents, Paul G. and Betty (Herman) Stephan. Paul married Mary Goewey on March 7, 1970 in Cuyahoga Falls. Shortly after marrying, Paul enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was stationed in Jacksonville, FL. After serving his country, Paul and Mary settled in Cuyahoga Falls. Paul was a machine assembler for over 40 years, retiring from Akron Special Machinery in early 2014. Paul enjoyed golfing, working in the yard, taking Corvette rides with Mary and vacationing in Myrtle Beach.
Paul is survived by his wife and children, as well as his sister, Carol (Steve) Graham; Brother-in-Law, James (Karen) Goewey; Sister-in-Law, Pam (Vance) Deal, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Robert.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 2141 5th St. Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. The funeral service will immediately follow at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 15, 2017. Paul will be laid to rest at Oakwood Cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Redeemer Christian School Scholarship Fund. Services entrusted to Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home and Crematory, 330-928-2147.
