Penny Smith

Penny J. Smith (Pierson) lost her courageous battle with cancer and went home to the loving arms of Jesus on February 15, 2016. Penny was born and raised in Cuyahoga Falls, graduating from Cuyahoga Falls High School in 1967. For the past 11 years she and her husband Don have resided in Stow, Ohio. Penny worked as an account clerk for the City of Cuyahoga Falls Utilities Department for 11 years. She was an active member of Riverwood Community Chapel in Kent, Ohio.

Preceded in death by her parents, William L. and June Pierson. Penny is survived and will be greatly missed by her loving husband of 43 years, Don; sisters Nancy Bye (Bob) of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, Kathy Martin (Dr. Trent) of Virginia Beach, VA, Janet Shrader-Ludwick (Scott) of Stow, OH, and Julie Cook (Richard) of Glenshaw, PA and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Penny will be remembered for her smile and sweet gentle spirit. Everywhere she went, she touched lives and left a lasting impression with those she encountered. Her faith gave her the will to fight every battle and to enjoy as much time as she could with husband, family, and friends.

A Memorial service to celebrate Penny's life will be conducted at Riverwood Community Chapel 1407 Fairchild Ave. Kent, OH at 2:30 PM on Saturday February 20, 2016, where friends may call for 1 hour prior to service time. Pastor Cole Tawney officiating. Interment Oakwood Cemetery. In Lieu of other remembrances, the family has asked that memorials be made to The American Cancer Society, 525 North Broad Street, Canfield, OH 44406. Services entrusted to Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home and Crematory, 330-928-2147.
