Ralph Leonard

CUYAHOGA FALLS - Ralph R. Leonard, 98, faithful servant, loving husband and father went home to be with the Lord, Passing to his Heavenly home on July 17, 2015. He was born in New Castle, PA, where he resided until 1993 when he moved to Cuyahoga Falls, OH. He graduated from New Castle High in 1934. Ralph retired from the BandO Railroad/Chessie System after 36 years of service. He worked as a Trainman and Yard Foreman in New Castle and Youngstown. After retirement Ralph and Mary enjoyed traveling the states, camping the west especially the National Parks. They had been married 76 years and were school mates since the first grade. He was an avid hunter, a lifetime member of the NRA and a member of the Community Baptist Church of Tallmadge.
Preceded in death by his daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and John Hanna; grandson, Christian James; sisters, Elsie M. Staeber and Doris M. McMullen; brothers, John C., Samuel W. and Joseph R. ; He is survived by his loving wife, Mary; children, Robert (Bonnie) of Bonita Springs, FL, Arthur (Kathleen) of Fallston, MD and Gary (Cheryl) of Beaver, PA; grandchildren, Rebecca (Dale), Jeffrey (Chris), Chad, Eric (Stephanie), Dean (Christan), Matt (Kiersten), Jennifer (Todd) and Carrie (Andrew); 14 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends at 10:30 AM with a memorial service at 11:00 AM on Saturday July 25, 2015 at the Community Baptist Church, 274 N Munroe R. Tallmadge, OH, 44278. Rev. Sheila Hershberger will be officiating. In lieu of other remembrances memorials may be made to the Church. Services entrusted to Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home and Crematory, 330-928-2147.
