Raymond Knoles

Cuyahoga Falls - Raymond "Ray" Knoles, 69 of Cuyahoga Falls died December 12, 2013.

Born on February 15, 1944, he was the son of the late Marguerite and James Knoles, Sr. Ray was a lifelong resident of Cuyahoga Falls and graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School. He was a passionate and proud veteran who enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served in the Vietnam War. He fought hard for his country and suffered several health issues from exposure to Agent Orange. Ray was a "gentle giant" who will be missed greatly by his family and friends. He loved motorcycles and enjoyed collecting motorcycle memorabilia. He especially enjoyed riding his Can-Am Spyder (three wheeled motorcycle) all around the Falls.
He was a life member of the VFW - Ralph Huff Post 1062 in Cuyahoga Falls. If he wasn't riding his Spyder or at home, you could find him there drinking a diet coke with his brothers and sisters at the Post. He loved that Post and everyone there.
Ray would always make sure to write a "Thank You" note to anyone who gave him anything. Every Christmas he would get custom made greeting cards with Santa on a motorcycle, and inside he would have his nickname "HOBO" inscribed. He always got his nieces and nephews cool little gadget gifts that he would find in mail order catalogs - always something unique!

Ray is survived by his siblings, Peggy Spranger of Hollywood, MD, JoMarie (Richard) Fugarino and Jim (Debbie) Knoles of Cuyahoga Falls. He is also survived by his aunts, Mary Francis of Minerva and Elsie Knoles of Cuyahoga Falls; uncles, Joe Beck of Atwater and Chuck Kemp of Cuyahoga Falls; nieces and nephews, Dawn Spranger of Hollywood, MD, Marc Fugarino, Tricia Knoles, and James (Tammy) Knoles of Cuyahoga Falls, David (Crystal) Spranger of Leonardtown, MD, and Shawn (Jen) Fugarino of Medina; and great nieces and nephews, Hannah and Harmony Spranger of Leonardtown MD, James and John Knoles and Tiffany Snyder of Cuyahoga Falls and Anna and Allie Fugarino of Medina; and dear lifelong friends, Dave Clark and Dale LaPointe; numerous cousins and many friends at the VFW.

Family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Sunday, December 15, 2013, with prayers recited at the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Jared Orndorff on Monday, December 16, 2013 at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church 1761 2nd St. Cuyahoga Falls, OH, 44221. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery with Military Service conducted by American Legion Charles Faust Post 281. Memorial contributions may be made to the VFW - Ralph Huff Post 1062 - Building Fund, 1581 Main St. Cuyahoga Falls, OH, 44221.

The family would like to thank Select Specialty Hospital for the excellent care they provided to Ray. Services entrusted to Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 330-928-2147.
