Rev. Donald Frerichs

STOW – The Rev. Donald L. Frerichs entered his eternal rest on January 5, 2021. He was born on May 1, 1937 in Hastings, Nebraska. He received his education at Decatur County (Kansas) High School, St. John’s (Winfield, Kansas) College, Concordia College (Seward, Nebraska), and Concordia Theological Seminary (Springfield, Illinois). He married Eileen Helm on August 23, 1963. Eileen preceded Don in death on April 29, 2021

Over a 53 year ministry, Don served parishes in Canby, Minnesota; Pasco, Washington; Portland, Oregon; and Florence, Oregon. After retiring to Ohio, he began the Protestant worship service at Vitalia of Stow.

Donald is survived by his children, Luke (Tammy) Frerichs, the Rev. Paul (Deborah) Frerichs, Lois (David) Hughey, and Matthew (Amy) Frerichs; sisters; Norma (Don) Dillon and Shirley Zanta; two nieces; eight grandchildren; one great-granddaughter.

Services will be held on January 19, 2022 at Redeemer Lutheran Church with the Rev. Eric Tritten of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church officiating. Arrangements are by Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home. Private family committal will be at Silver Spring Cemetery in Stow. Livestream of the service is available at www.redeemerlutheran.us.
