Richard Lee Darmstadt 82, of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio passed away with family by his side Friday September 27, 2024. Richard was born on November 21, 1941, in Akron Ohio and graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School in 1959. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served on both the USS Intrepid and USS Enterprise as a Naval mechanic before receiving an honorable discharge in December of 1962.

Richard then went on to work for his father’s window cleaning business up until joining the Cuyahoga Falls Police Department in 1969, where he proudly served for 28 years.

He was a member of the CFPD Honor Guard, member of the FOP where he served a term as president, member of North Summit Bowling Association, IHM Parish, and AA. He also became a volunteer at LifeBanc after receiving a lung transplant in 2012 and received the 2017 Northeast Ohio Outstanding Senior Volunteer Honorable Mention Award for exemplary community volunteer service.

Outside of the time he dedicated to serving the community, he enjoyed camping, going to Myrtle Beach, attending his grandson’s various sporting events, and bowling, where he achieved his dream of getting a perfect score of 300. Richard truly enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and he will be dearly missed by many.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents John and Helen Darmstadt.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years Sharon, his daughters Kathleen Darmstadt and Annette (Todd) Bischof; grandsons Tyler (Chelsea), Nathan, Brandon, and Garrett Bischof, Great grandchildren Brooks and Charlie Bischof and brother John (Gina) Darmstadt. He is also survived by his nephew John Darmstadt, niece Julie Wingate and their families, along with many extended family members and friends.

Guests are welcome to visit with the family on Saturday, October 5, 2024, from 11 am until noon, with Mass of Christian Burial beginning at noon, all at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, 1905 Portage Trail, Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44223. Private interment will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
