Richard Paddison

CUYAHOGA FALLS - Richard O. Paddison, 78, passed away December 8, 2009 in Orange City, FL. Mr. Paddison was born in Akron and had resided in Cuyahoga Falls most of his life, graduating from Cuyahoga Falls High School in 1949. He retired from the Veterans Service Commission of Summit County in 1996 as Executive Director, had previously worked for the R. M. Paddison Co. and was a Veteran of The Korean War having served with the U. S. Air Force. He was a life member and Past Commander of American Legion Charles Faust Post 281 and had served on its Honor Guard, a life member of Bob Appleman VFW Post 3294 and life member of the 40 and 8 Voiture 468 of Summit County and a Kentucky Colonel. Dick was past Grande Chef d Gare du Ohio, was a member of Star Lodge 187 F&AM, a member and past President of the Akron Board of Trade Council where had been Man of the Year and was Citizen of the Year for Cuyahoga Falls in 2006. A member of the Memorial Day Parade Committee for 26 years in Cuyahoga Falls, he had been Master of Ceremonies for many of those years and served as Parade Marshall. Dick had also taught speech at the University of Akron and was Past Parliamentarian of Ohio American Legion in 1983.

Preceded in death by his wife, Katherine after 42 years of marriage and brother, Robert, he is survived by his special niece, Cheryl Seifstein (Ira) of Deltona, FL and great-nephews and -niece, Jason, Kimberly and Ronnie; sister-in-law, Jeanette Paddison, other nieces and nephews and special friends including Mike and Sharon McClain, Pat and Cathy McGinnis, Carol Materna and Richard Moore.

Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 pm Sunday, December 13th in The Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home 1930 Front St. Cuyahoga Falls where a Funeral Service will be conducted at 11:00 am Monday, December 14, 2009. Rev. Stephen Gehlert officiating. Interment Chestnut Hill Memorial Park. A Military Service will be conducted by American Legion Charles Faust Post 281. In lieu of other remembrances, memorials may be made to 40 and 8, 1601 Front St. Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221.
