Richard A. ”Richie” “Dick” “Papa” Pasher
Dick Pasher, 85, passed away August 14, 2021. He was born in Steubenville, OH, lived his life in Akron and most recently resided in Tallmadge, OH. Dick was a 1954 graduate of East High School and went on to earn both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Education from the University of Akron where he met his wife. He worked as a teacher and counselor for Akron Public Schools, retiring after over 30 years of service. Dick was a devoted and long-time active member of the Fairlawn-West United Church of Christ in Akron. He enjoyed owning vintage Porsches and taking fishing trips to Canada for many years. Dick was also an avid reader, liked the challenge of fixing things, regularly exercised, and was known for his sense of humor.
Dick was very active after retirement, volunteering for a wide range of activities, including the Willard Food Pantry, teaching adults how to read, working as a tour guide at Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens, and for the Metro Parks, teaching youth how to fish.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred H. and Celia (Jacobs) Pascher; and sister, Judith (Robert) Spring.
Dick will be dearly missed by his loving and devoted wife of 61 years, Dottie (Dorothy Ann Walker), son Gregory (Christine Gongos) Pasher, grandson William Joseph Walker Pasher and son Mark (James Hekman) Pasher, sister Suzanne Pascher-Curry, sisters-in-law Joyce (Jon, deceased) Loffman, Janice (Jack) Pierson and many nieces and nephews.
The family expresses deep gratitude to Mandy and Debbie of Cleveland Clinic Hospice for their compassionate care.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 27, 2021 from 3 - 7 p.m. at Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 28 at 1pm at Fairlawn-West United Church of Christ, 2095 W. Market St., Akron, OH 44313.
The family kindly requests the wearing of masks at both the visitation and the memorial service.
