Richard (Rich) William Guillod 93, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of November 3, 2023, surrounded by many of his loving family.
Rich was born on January 23, 1930 in Canton, Ohio to the late William O. and Hilda (Raber) Guillod. He grew up in Cuyahoga Falls and was avid in the Boy Scouts, earning Eagle Scout, and graduated from CFHS in January, 1948. He went on to earn his BA from Ohio Wesleyan University in 1951 and his MBA from Kent State University in 1953.
He served in the US Army from 1953 – 1955, 3rd Infantry Division, honorably discharged as Sargeant E5.
After the Army, Rich embarked on a 30-year career in Marketing for B.F. Goodrich, where he attained and held many executive positions in the US and abroad, including Germany, Puerto Rico and Ontario, Canada. In 1985 he retired from BFG but continued his career at Key Manufacturing in Detroit, as VP of Marketing, and retired permanently in 1995. Rich then moved to Rio Verde, Arizona where he lived until 2019, upon which he moved back to Ohio to be closer to his family.
He was married to Nancy Richards from 1953-1975 and had 5 children.
He later married Lucile (Peters/Mackin) in 1976 and they were together until her death in 2013.
Rich had a lifetime passion for playing golf and over his adult life was a member of multiple country clubs including Fairlawn CC, Silver Lake CC in Ohio. Most notably, he was a member of Oakland Hills CC in Michigan and Rio Verde CC in Arizona. The latter being his longest tenure where he had the privilege of being club president and, as a player, shot his age several times. He truly delighted in hosting family and friends in Rio Verde during the holidays and special visits over his many years there.
In addition to his parents, Rich was preceded in death by his sister JoAnn Stahlfeld and his wife Lucille.
Left to cherish his memory are his 5 children, Lynn (James), David (Debbie), Ginny (John), Diane, Liz (Chris). 12 Grandchildren, 11 Great Grandchildren. Rich is also survived by his 4 stepchildren, Cathy (Eric), Michael (Sue), Marcia (Rick), Linda (Jeff). 5 Step-Grandchildren, 10 Step-Great Grandchildren.
Rich was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hudson, Ohio.
A private interment will take place later in Rio Verde, Arizona memorial garden beside his love Lucile. The family will have a celebration of life next summer.
